Single App Mode can be configured on iPhones, iPads, and Apple TV devices that have been enrolled via Mobile Device Management (MDM Overview).
The Single App Mode MDM Profile forces a single app to always open on the device and prevents the use of other apps. The selected app will reopen immediately after the device is restarted.
Table of Contents
Configuring the MDM Profile
- Navigate to Catalog > MDM Profiles
- Click New on the Top Right
- Search for Single App Lock
- After naming the payload, add the Bundle ID of the app to the App To Lock field.
Locating an apps Bundle ID
To locate an apps Bundle ID go to a device's GoLive page > Software > Apps and Books > choose the token where the app resides > Bundle ID.
Updating apps in Single App Mode
Apps in Single App Mode are not able to update (this behavior is expected as per Apple). To update an app you would need to remove the Single App Mode MDM Profile from a device. Upon next policy deployment the app will update. Afterwards you can assign the Single App Mode MDM Profile to the device.
