App Store applications are a critical part of the Apple ecosystem. For Addigy administrators, deploying apps from Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager via a policy is an effective way to send out apps to large groups of devices. However, there are specific situations where an application may only be required on a few devices. In these cases we recommend deploying apps to individual devices via GoLive, as described below.
Deploying Apps
- Navigate to the desired device's GoLive page and select the Software > Apple Apps tab.
- Select a Location Token with available licenses for the desired application.
- Applications on the token compatible with the device's model (macOS or iOS/iPadOS) will appear as available for deployment.
- To install an app on the device, click the Actions tab and select 'Deploy'.
- You will be prompted to confirm whether you would like to deploy the app with or without a configuration. To deploy the app without a configuration, simply select the default option 'App Only' and deploy.
Note: For information on deploying Managed App Configurations, see Managed App Configuration
Monitoring Deployment Status
After deploying the application, an MDM installation command will be queued on the device. Once the command has successfully executed, the app should be available for use on the device. Refer to the Events tab to confirm installation has been queued and monitor the status of execution.
Note: If the device is offline, the app will queue for deployment and wait until the device returns to Wi-Fi or cellular service to execute.
Notes:
- Apple Apps deployed via GoLive will not receive automatic updates.
