With the release of macOS Catalina 10.15 Apple announced that in a future release of macOS "...macOS won’t include scripting language runtimes by default, and might require you to install additional packages." Specifically Python, Ruby, and Perl.
In lieu of this Addigy is upgrading Device Facts that were originally developed using the Python scripting environment to use the environments Apple will include going forward. As part of the redevelopment of the facts we do everything we can to ensure that the output of the new version of the Fact is identical to the original version.
Note: additional product changes are coming beyond Facts as we remove all dependencies on Python. Look for an additional update on those changes soon.
However, sometimes it is impossible to have the Fact output be identical to an earlier version. When this occurs, if you have create a Monitoring Item, any alerts you have configured for that item may be triggered.
As we release updated Facts, this KB will be your list of upcoming Fact changes that MAY TRIGGER unintended alerts.
The following Facts are slated for release Thursday August 26, 2021:
- Ethernet Mac Address
- Last Reboot Timestamp
- Free Disk Space (GB)
- Total Disk Space (GB)
