macOS Updates via this tool have been deprecated
Apple continues to move towards using MDM for OS updates and upgrades for all of its devices. As such, Addigy has deprecated macOS updates. This functionality will still continue to work for OSes that support command-line based updates (macOS Big Sur and lower). For macOS Monterey and newer, please use the new System Updates. Addigy will continue to leave macOS Updates inside the product until support for those older OSes lapses (find out Addigy's System Requirements).
How to Deploy Updates to macOS using Policies
Deploying macOS Updates to devices in bulk is made simple by using Policies. For more information on how to use Policies, check out Policies Overview. The Policies page leverages the softwareupdate command in our Update Installer utility when deploying updates.
Note: This is for System Updates, if you'd like to deploy a System Upgrade (Major OS Version) this can be done deploying Software from our Public Catalog.
FAQ: System Upgrades vs. System Updates.
To start adding system updates to your policies, first navigate to the Policies page, select the policy you'd like this added to, and then click on the Updates tab:
From here, you will see the available updates that are pulled from the devices in the policy. You can see if the updates require a restart to apply as well as which Devices are showing this update as needed.
To configure the Update Settings, click the Settings link at the top right:
Here you can choose if you'd like to ignore system updates in App Store (for devices on macOS prior to Big Sur) and how updates that require updates will be deployed to devices.
