At the beginning of August, we will be pushing out two new changes to the Flex Policy Beta.
- Introducing "Location". Allows you to create a 1-to-1 relationship between a device and policy.
- Adding the ability to check if a device fact has been audited or not in Auto Assignments
In Flex Policies, devices can live in multiple policies at once. The new policy_ids fact allows you to to track each policy a device is a member of. As a byproduct, it's become harder to track the 1-to-1 relationship between a device and location (Company, Department, Etc). That's why we are changing policy_id to location. In the current state of the Flex beta you are unable to move devices from their root policies (policy_id) to another policy. We know this can be troublesome so we are adding some tools to help you manage this relationship.
You'll find some updates to the UI to accommodate this change. First, you'll notice the policy_id device fact is now called location.
Next, We are also adding the ability to bulk move a device's location via the devices page. You can use this to create a 1-to-1 relationship between a device and the company they belong to.
We've updated the GoLive UI to show both Location and Policies assigned to a single device as well as the options to change these settings.
With the following changes, you should be able to fully move and manage devices across all policies in Addigy and still maintain a concrete link between which devices belong to organizations or departments within your Addigy organization.
Does this fact value Exists?
We're adding a new operator called "exists" that checks if a device fact has been audited yet. This can be used to create Auto Assignments that only trigger after a certain fact has been fully audited.
