We have identified a  current limitation (08/06/2020) with our Remote Tool LiveDesktop. Are you experiencing a connection failure when trying to connect to a device?





This article will provide more insight into why this is occurring and how to overcome the current limitation.


Many ISP's are migrating from IPv4 to IPv6. The widespread move to work-from-home has led to several admins being affected by these changes to your IP address. LiveDesktop supports an IPv4 connection will connect for your remote session. A device with an IPv6 IP address will fail when LiveDesktop grabs your Public IP as an IPv6 address rather than an IPv4 address.


We are looking into supporting new IPv6 connections. In the interim, the solution would be to disable IPv6 on the device you are using to establish LiveDesktop sessions using an IPv4 connection.


On macOS, there's a one-line command that can be run locally on your terminal:


networksetup -setv6off Wi-Fi


On Windows, IPv6 can be disabled from your network properties in Control Panel > Network Connections > (Your network) > Right-Click > Properties.
