App Store apps are a critical part of the Apple ecosystem. For Addigy administrators, deploying apps from Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager via Policy is an effective way to send out apps to large groups of devices. However, there are specific situations where an application may only be required on a few devices. The best route for app deployment in these scenarios would be with GoLive rather than building more child policies. Lets take a look at Apps and Books deployments with GoLive.

Apps and Books app are simple to deploy with GoLive. Simply find the device via the Devices page and click Golive. Next click on Software followed by the sub-tab Apps and Books. From here, there will be a list of apps from the Apps and Books token along with available licenses presented for this device type. Please note, we have filtered out any apps that are not applicable to the device type. To install an app on this device, simply press Deploy. Once the command has been queued, a message will popup to alert you that the command has been successfully queued.
Now that the application is queued for deployment, you can review queued and executed commands on the Events tab. In this example, you can see that the command was queued and sent to the device very quickly. If the device is offline, the app will queue for deployment and wait until the device returns to Wi-Fi or cellular service.
Once the app has successfully completed installation, the device can be sent a command to update its information to Addigy. This can be done in a couple different ways:
- On the Installed Apps tab, click the refresh tab to queue an application update command. If the device is online, this table will refresh
- On the top of the device page, click Refresh Data. This will queue up a complete update of the device facts for this device
