A device's Location Policy is its root-level Policy assignment in Addigy. You can change the Location for one or more devices at a time directly from the Devices page — useful when onboarding new devices, restructuring your Policy hierarchy, or moving devices between organizations.
Warning: Changing a device's Location may affect what is deployed to it. If an item deployed by the current Location Policy is not present in the new one, it may be removed from the device depending on the item type. Review both Policies before making changes.
How to Change a Device's Location Policy
- Navigate to the Devices page and select the device(s) whose Location you want to change. Use the filter bars at the top of the page to narrow down your list if needed.
- Click the Tools dropdown and select Change location... under Bulk Actions.
- In the Update Location dialog, select the destination Policy from the dropdown.
- Click Update. All selected devices will be moved to the new Location Policy.
Note: Moving a device to a new Location does not immediately deploy the new Policy's items. Deployment will occur at the next automatic deployment cycle (within approximately 30 minutes), or immediately if you click Deploy Now on the Policy.
