The System Dashboard gives you a live, visual breakdown of the hardware and operating system health of every Apple device in your organization. Instead of exporting a device list and sorting it in a spreadsheet, you can click directly on the dashboard to answer questions like "which Macs are still on an older macOS?" or "which devices are running low on disk space?" in a few seconds.
Overview
The System Dashboard aggregates Device Facts collected from your enrolled devices and displays them as interactive charts and counters. Every element on the page is a filter: clicking a segment narrows the entire dashboard to just those devices.
- What it does: Summarizes OS versions, uptime, memory, disk space, processor details, time zones, and alert categories across your fleet.
- Who it's for: IT administrators and MSP technicians who need a fast read on fleet health, upgrade readiness, or hardware refresh planning.
- Key benefits: Spot outliers without building a report, stack filters to isolate a specific set of devices, and export or schedule the filtered view as a report for stakeholders.
How to Open the System Dashboard
- Click Dashboards in the navigation menu.
- In the drop-down list, click System.
The dashboard loads with data for every device in your organization.
How to Filter by Policy
Use a policy filter when you want to see the health of one team, site, or customer rather than your entire fleet.
- Start typing a policy name in the Policy Selection box to narrow the list of available policies.
- Click the policy you want.
Every chart and counter on the dashboard updates to reflect only that policy. To return to all devices, click the X in the policy drop-down.
Note: A policy filter includes devices in the selected parent policy and all of its child policies.
How to Use Advanced Filtering
Combine multiple device fact filters when a policy filter alone is too broad — for example, to find devices on a specific macOS version and with less than 20 GB of free disk space.
- Click Filter above the dashboard.
- Select Add filter rule.
- Enter a device fact in the Select Filter... box. Both built-in and custom facts are supported.
- Choose a comparison operator:
- For text facts: contains, =, or != (not equal).
- For numeric facts: =, !=, <, >, <=, or >=.
- Enter the value to compare against.
- Repeat to add more filters and narrow the results further.
You can also apply a saved Smart Filter instead of building the criteria each time.
How to Filter by Device Type
Use this when you want to separate Mac data from iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV data.
- Click a device icon at the top of the dashboard.
- The dashboard filters to that device type only.
To remove the filter, click the X on the corresponding fact filter at the top of the page.
Other Interactive Areas
Beyond policy, advanced, and device type filtering, each of the following sections is clickable. Clicking a value applies it as a filter to the whole dashboard, and filters stack — so you can click OS Version, then Disk Space, to isolate a very specific group of devices.
- OS Version
- Uptime
- Memory
- Disk Space
- Processor Speed
- Time Zone
- Processor Type
- Alert Categories
Every applied filter appears as a chip at the top of the page. Click the X on any chip to remove that filter, or remove them one at a time to widen your results.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do filters carry over into reports?
Yes. The Print Report option reflects the filters currently applied to the dashboard. See Generating System Dashboard Reports for the full workflow.
Can I apply more than one filter at a time?
Yes. Policy, device type, and device fact filters combine, and each additional filter narrows the result set further.
Why doesn't a device appear on the dashboard?
The dashboard reflects the most recent device facts reported by each device. A device that has not checked in recently may show outdated values or be excluded from fact-based filters.
Does a policy filter include child policies?
Yes. Selecting a policy includes devices in that policy and every child policy beneath it.
