While deploying Apple Apps via a policy is ideal for managing large groups of devices, some apps may only be needed on specific machines. In these cases, Addigy administrators can deploy apps directly to individual devices via the GoLive page.
Steps To Deploy Apps Via GoLive
-
Navigate to the target device’s GoLive page.
-
Select the Software > Apple Apps tab.
-
From the dropdown, select a Location Token with available licenses for the desired app.
-
Select and Deploy App
-
Compatible apps (macOS or iOS/iPadOS) will appear.
-
Click the Actions (...) tab next to the app.
-
Select Deploy.
- Note: For information about the 'Install as Managed' option, see Installing an Apps & Books App as Managed
-
-
Deployment Methods
-
You’ll be prompted to select a deployment method.
-
To deploy the app without a configuration (default option), select App Only and confirm.
-
Note: For information about App Configurations, see Managed App Configuration
Monitoring App Deployment Status via GoLive
When an app is deployed via GoLive, Addigy sends an MDM installation command to the device. You can track the deployment status to ensure the app installs successfully.
What to Expect After Deployment
-
MDM Command Queued
After initiating deployment, an MDM installation command will be queued on the device. -
Monitor Installation Status
-
Navigate to the device’s Events tab.
-
Confirm that the install command has been queued.
-
Continue monitoring to see when it has executed successfully.
-
-
Offline Devices
-
If the device is offline, the command will remain queued.
-
It will execute once the device reconnects to Wi-Fi or Cellular.
-
Additional Notes
-
Apple Apps deployed via GoLive will not receive automatic updates. To keep these apps up to date, you’ll need to re-deploy via GoLive each time a new version is released.
- Apple Apps can only deploy the latest available version of an application. It is not possible to deploy earlier releases via Apple Apps.
- If you find that you are unable to deploy an app via GoLive because the "Deploy" button is greyed out, the app may not have any licenses available.
- Additionally, if you find that the "Apple Apps" tab is greyed out, you most likely do not have Apple Apps set up in the device's policy. You can check out our article Configuring Apple Apps (Apps & Books) for information on how to set it up.
