Addigy Agent-Watchdog is an optional process you can deploy to the Macs in your organization. It’s part of a system designed to minimize the CPU usage during updates and syncing. If CPU usage gets too high, the Watchdog will prevent the process from interrupting the device's performance.
In rare cases, the Addigy Support team may ask you to enable the "Agent-Watchdog" Beta Feature if you are having issues with the Addigy Agent or Policier having high CPU — or in the case of the Policier running for an exceptionally extended period of time.
When the beta is enabled (visit Account -> Settings -> Agent-Watchdog to enable), Addigy will deploy the watchdog binary to /Library/Addigy/watchdog and the Watchdog logs will be added in /Library/Addigy/logs.
With Addigy Agent-Watchdog deployed on macOS devices:
- If the Addigy Agent is using high CPU cycles, the Watchdog will collect detailed logs and restart the Agent when merited.
- If the Policier is using high CPU or has been running for an excessive amount of time, the Watchdog will collect detailed logs and restart the Policier in certain situations.
You can remove the Agent-Watchdog from devices by disabling the beta.
