If a macOS device has Activation Lock Enabled (See: Overview: Managed (MDM) Activation Lock via Addigy) before being erased, it will reach the MDM Activation Lock screen upon restart.
With macOS, similar functionality to iOS and iPadOS applies. However, the macOS UI for Activation Lock is a bit different. macOS will not allow for the MDM Activation Lock Bypass code to be input on the main screen when the macOS device reboots. The default Activation Lock screen will only allow Apple ID or Managed Apple ID email and password combinations. To gain access to the MDM Activation Lock screen, the end-user must click on Recovery Assistant in the upper left-hand corner and select Activate with MDM Key. From here, the MDM Bypass Code can be typed into the device.
Initial Activation Lock Screen
This is the first screen that will be seen if a device has reached the requirements to become locked via Activation Lock. You may be asked to connect to WiFi before this screen.
Recovery Assistant Dropdown
If you are looking to use an MDM bypass code to unlock the device, you must navigate to a separate page. You can get there by selecting "Activate with MDM Key..." under the "Recovery Assistant" section of the menubar.
MDM Activation Lock Bypass Code Input
This is where you will be able to enter any available MDM bypass code to unlock the device.
