Effective September 11, 2025, the Microsoft Office Updates feature will be deprecated.
This feature previously allowed updates for Microsoft Office applications to be triggered via the Microsoft AutoUpdate (MAU) tool. As we continue to improve the experience of deploying and updating apps in Addigy, we’re consolidating this functionality under a more modern and scalable system.
What’s changing?
The ability to trigger Microsoft Office updates using the standalone Microsoft Office Updates feature is being removed. Moving forward, this functionality is handled through Prebuilt Apps.
Why the change?
We're shifting to Prebuilt Apps because it:
Provides a unified interface for app deployment and updates
Supports version targeting, automated installs, and more
Is actively maintained and aligns with current platform direction
This change simplifies configuration and management, while reducing duplication of update methods in Addigy.
What do I need to do?
To prepare for this deprecation:
Remove the Microsoft Office Updates configuration from any Policies where it’s currently enabled.
Add Microsoft Office applications (Excel, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Word) as Prebuilt Apps to those same Policies.
Deploy the updated Policy to your devices.
For details, see the Prebuilt Apps Overview.
Timeline
Now through Sept 10th, 2025: The existing Microsoft Office Updates feature will continue to work, but no new support will be provided.
