This article will show how end users should sign in to their device via Addigy Identity with Microsoft as the Identity Provider.
Note: Currently, Addigy Identity does not support passwordless sign in. Attempting to authenticate using passwordless sign in will result in an error.
Powering On The Device
With FileVault enabled end users will arrive at the FileVault screen and be required to enter their password. Once their password is entered they will see the Addigy Identity login screen. If FileVault is not enabled, they will see the Addigy Identity screen directly after powering on their device.
Note: A simple indicator that a device is on the FileVault screen is that it will not have an internet connection.
Signing In to the Device
On the Addigy Identity login screen users will type in their email. Upon submitting their email one of two scenarios will occur:
Users will be asked to type in their password (screenshot below):
- Users will be asked to approve of the sign in via passwordless authentication (screenshot below):
Passwordless sign in attempts to authenticate the end user without directly providing the password to their account. Currently Addigy Identity does not support passwordless authentication. End users who sign in via passwordless authentication will encounter an error message and will need to attempt to sign into their device again.
What Do Errors Look Like in Addigy Identity When Using Passwordless Sign In?
The following errors may appear when attempting to use passwordless sign in within Addigy Identity:
"This page is not normally shown and could be a sign of a phishing attempt. The URL contains your password. Close this page immediately and do not copy or share the URL with anyone."
"This is not the right page. You have reached the wrong page. Please close this app or window and try again."
If an end user encounters any of these errors, ask that they reload the web view by clicking the "Reload" button and attempt to sign in again by entering their password (explained in the next section). If additional issues persist, try rebooting the device.
How To Enter Your Password When Passwordless Sign In Is Your Default Sign In Method
Some users may have passwordless sign in set as their default sign in method which will automatically prompt the user to authenticate. Within the passwordless authentication screen there should be an option to "Use your password instead" as shown in the screenshot below:
Once the end user clicks the blue text they will be asked to type out their password instead of authenticating via passwordless sign in, which will allow them to successfully sign into their device via Addigy Identity.
