What Is A Managed App?
Managed Applications are applications deployed with Apple Apps that have the "Install as Managed" toggle enabled. Managed Applications can be updated, configured, and uninstalled via Addigy. If the app already exists on a device and install as managed is enabled, Addigy will send a command to take over management of that app.
Enable Install As Managed
To configure this setting go to the policy > Software > Apple Apps. Toggle the Install as Managed option to ON.
Apps that are deployed via a device's GoLive page can also be install as managed. Head to the GoLive page of the device > Software > Apple Apps. Make sure the Install as Managed toggle is enabled then click Actions > Deploy.
Enable Auto Updates
To configure this setting go to the policy > Software > Apple Apps. Toggle auto update on. The auto update toggle is dependent on having the install as managed toggle enabled.
The device performs mdm audits (~ 1 hour) in which it performs the "Application List" command. We then check the version of the app to verify if it needs an update. If the app is managed and auto-update is enabled in the policy, we queue up the install application command and the device should respond with the "acknowledged" status and queue the installation locally on the device.
Note: Apps deployed via GoLive will not be eligible for auto updates. To have apps auto update they must be deployed from the policy > Software > Apple Apps.
